Dear Families,
We are in week two of the school year, and it has been great to have the students back on campus. We spent the first week establishing routines and holding our assemblies around behavior and school-wide expectations.
Consistent school attendance is one of the single best predictors of student achievement, directly driving early literacy and math proficiency. Missing just two days a month—10% of the school year—qualifies a student as chronically absent, creating skill gaps that compound over time and make future coursework significantly harder. Beyond academics, daily attendance fosters essential social-emotional skills, strengthens peer relationships, and builds habits of punctuality and responsibility that set students up for long-term success. If your student ever needs to be absent, remember to call the main office as early as possible to let us know.
A consistent nighttime routine helps students wind down, recharge, and arrive at school refreshed and ready to learn. Setting a predictable bedtime—paired with limiting screen time at least an hour before sleep—allows children to get the 9 to 11 hours of rest essential for focus, memory, and emotional balance. Simple habits like prepping backpacks, laying out outfits, and reading together before bed not only reduce morning stress but also establish a sense of security and structure that supports academic success every day.
